Windows #6: The Make Quiz Sheet

Upon selecting the ≠ Questions command (option-command-E) in the Article Set Window, a sheet appears for making and editing a quiz for the article selected in that window.

Article Title: The top center displays the name of the article, in this case "Golden Possibilities".

Question: The upper editable field is the Question Field; its corresponding label gives its question number as well as the total number of questions for the quiz.

Answer: The lower editable field is the Answer Field; using the tab key will alternatively select this field and the Question Field.

Edit Checkbox: When the Edit Checkbox is selected, the Question and Answer Fields can be edited. Otherwise, these fields cannot be edited. The Edit Checkbox provides a simple and easy (command-E) safeguard by which you can peruse data without worrying about inadvertently modifying it. NOTE: If the Edit Checkmark is selected, typing in a Question or Answer Field will change the value of that field.

Previous & Next Buttons: These buttons will select the Previous and Next Question (and Answer) respectively.

Add, Insert, & Delete Buttons: Adding a new question will place the question at the end of the questions (e.g., 10 of 10, or 5 of 5, etc.), and insert "Enter Question" and "Enter Answer" for their respective field values, and make these fields editable, even if the the Edit Checkbox is not selected. Inserting a question invokes similar behavior, except the question is inserted at the present location (e.g., 3 of 5, etc.). The Delete Button will delete the current question. Note that the Delete Button is disabled unless the Edit Checkbox is selected.

Cancel & Save Buttons: Canceling out will close the sheet without saving changes; the Save Button will close the sheet after saving changes. NOTE: The quiz will NOT be saved to disk unless you furthermore save the Article Set, since all the articles within a given set and the quizzes are stored together in one file with an ".iSpdRd" extension.

Note in the example above, that the Article Set Window is titled Default Articles, which is the default set automatically opened upon launching iSpeedRead. Note that ALL of the controls have associated Shortcut Keys for easy creation and modification of quizzes without having to use the mouse. The Question and Answer Fields are alternatively selected by using the Tab key.
